Methodology

Our Methodology

How we collect, verify, and present procurement opportunities from across Malawi and international development organizations.

Data Collection Pipeline

TendersMW uses automated scrapers to collect procurement notices from multiple official sources. Our pipeline runs multiple times daily to ensure timely coverage.

Government Portals

PPDA (ppda.mw) and MANEPS (maneps.mw) are scraped for all publicly posted procurement notices, including open tenders, restricted tenders, and procurement intentions.

International Development

World Bank, African Development Bank, EU TED, and UNGM procurement portals are queried for Malawi-specific opportunities using their public APIs and search interfaces.

Parastatal & Utility Tenders

Major Malawian entities like ESCOM, water boards, and city councils publish tenders on their own websites. We monitor these sources for new procurement notices.

Categorization System

Every tender is classified into one of 10 procurement categories based on the tender title, description, and procurement method:

Quality Scoring

Each tender listing receives a quality score (1-5) based on data completeness:

Title, entity, reference, dates, description, documents, contact information all present.

4

Good

Most fields present. May be missing contact info or detailed description.

3

Adequate

Essential fields present (title, entity, closing date). Missing some details.

2

1

Tenders with a quality score below 3 are marked as noindex to prevent search engines from displaying incomplete information.
